To create our poster the first thing we had to do was choose a background colour. At first we wanted this to be within our colour scheme and therefore we were thinking about using oranges or yellows. However, this did not look right with the overall finish. Therefore we decided upon black. One of the more simple ideas for this is because it worked well with bringing out the font which is what we want our audience to focus on. Also, black is a connotation for death, however it can also be a connotation for moving on and changing which is the message that we are trying to convey in our music video. Lastly the black can represent the woman's reality, however the small triangle of colour represents her freedom in dreams. We then added a gold glitter affect to the black. One reason for this is because we wanted to keep an element of magic and wonder. Another reason is that oranges/yellows were colours that our audience liked in our colour scheme.
We used the same picture used on the front cover of our digipak and also a shot from the music video itself; linking the products well together. We chose this photo because it is the actor central and looking straight down the camera. This suggests that she is together and confident which is the message that our video conveys. We edited the photo with the pink and purple colours of our colour scheme and also gave it a blurred effect. This blurred effect represents the confusion that females go through in reality where they have all sorts of expectations put on them. It also represents the line between dream and reality.
We used purple writing on the digipack. This is because it was one of two colours that our audience wanted in our colour scheme. We chose purple because one of our main focuses for our video was femininity because this is one of the codes of pop music. Purple is a staple female colour and therefore enforces further the artist's femininity. Purple is also a connotation for "wise and imaginative". The concept of our video is very imaginative and therefore this colour connotation fits perfectly.
We then decided to put the social media links in the corner. One reason for this is because we found out from audience research that this is important to our audience. This was one of the most popular things that they wanted to see on the digipak and therefore we decided to use it for the poster as well. Also this is very typical of female pop artists. They like to sell themselves and their image to their audience and be someone that their audience follows and looks up to. This also fits with the tour dates; they want to sell themselves.
See you soon!
